Welcome to the National Soaring Museum!
The NSM is an aviation museum working to preserve the history of motorless flight. Stop in and see a multitude of gliders on display, try out computerized flight simulators, and participate in fun educational programs!
The NSM is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., 7 days a week.
Several nominations for election to the US Soaring Hall of Fame have been received and passed onto the members of the vetting board for review. The NSM extends its thanks to those who submitted nominations. For a detailed description of the recently revised selection process, please refer to the August 2005 issue of Soaring magazine, pages 10-11.
Through September 30, the NSM will be home to NASA's traveling exhibit on the Hubble Space Telescope. The exhibit contains images and data on planets, galaxies, black holes, and many other fascinating cosmic entities, with spectacular backlit color images (including the Eagle Nebula and the Hubble Deep Field) and numerous interactive displays. Visitors will be able to "hit" Jupiter with a comet, attempt to put star clusters in order of age, and match before and after images of colliding galaxies. There will also be videos on Shoemaker-Levy (a comet collision with Jupiter), star life cycle animations, the age of the universe and the Hubble Deep Field. The exhibit is included in museum admission. If you would like to book a group tour, please click here for rates.
