Richard and Idaho Aeronautics Team Up Again!

At the request of the Idaho Division of Aeronautics, Richard Klein traveled to the "Gem State" in June, 2006 to conduct a series of teacher workshops for the fourth consecutive year. Workshops were held in Boise and Idaho Falls. Teachers received instruction in using aviation to teach the current Idaho Academic Standards. Richard showed the enthusiastic educators new and exciting ways to teach mathematics, science, social studies, reading and technology. Each workshop lasted 2 full days. Participants received over 30 classroom ready lessons and activities. Teachers also received university credit to be applied for state recertification. Evaluations indicated a need for this kind of instruction that would be used with students in grades 4 through high school. Richard was also given the opportunity to fly into the wilderness backcountry airstrips maintained by the State of Idaho and the U.S. Forest Service. He took photographs for the Aeronautics Divison of some of the nation's most challenging airstrip approaches. Combining teaching and flying, Richard spent a very meaningful 2 weeks.
