About HFI

Helicopter Foundation International (HFI) was founded in 1983. Through its various programs, Golf Tournament, and Pioneer and Heritage publications, the foundation strives to preserve and promote the rich heritage of vertical aviation, while supporting the next generation of pilots and technicians.

HFI is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization; any donations you make are tax deductible as far as federal law permits.

HFI is affiliated with the Helicopter Association International (HAI), which is a non-profit, professional trade association with more than 1,400 member organizations from 70 nations. Since 1948, HAI has been dedicated to promoting the helicopter as a safe and efficient method of transportation, and to the advancement of the civil helicopter industry.

HAI's membership structure enables the Association to provide continuing meaningful interchange between the manufacturers and operators. Member companies include manufacturers, peripheral industry supporters, and operators of civil helicopters. The HAI Board of Directors seats airframe, engine, insurance, and public relations advisors; truly representing the entire industry. Members' interests are presented in a constructive manner to legislative bodies, regulatory agencies, commerce and industry, the news media and the public.

Heli-Expo, HAI's Annual Meeting and Exposition, is the world's largest display of helicopter products and services. This annual event attracts over 12,000 helicopter professionals from around the world. Heli-Expo allows industry representatives to meet with leaders in the industry, examine the latest in helicopter equipment and applications, participate in professional development courses and attend open meetings of HAI's 21 active committees. Heli-Expo features over 450 exhibiting companies and over 60 helicopters on display.

With its headquarters located just outside of Washington, D.C., HAI works closely with the Federal government and other industry affiliated associations. HAI monitors and works to influence governmental actions that affect the commercial civil helicopter industry. HAI represents its membership at programs such as the Rotorcraft Task Force (ROTAF), the Aviation Rulemaking Advisory Committee (ARAC) and the Joint Airworthiness Authority (JAA) in conjunction with the International Civil Aviation Authority.

HAI distributes informative publications for the benefit of the helicopter operator and the general public. The award winning Helicopter Annual continues to be the unrivaled reference source of the civil helicopter industry. Other publications include ROTOR Magazine, Operations (monthly) and Maintenance Updates (quarterly), regulatory newsletters, and Preliminary Accident Reports, as reported by the FAA and NTSB, compiled and published quarterly.

HAI is dedicated to the advancement of the civil helicopter industry
